Business Analyst

POSITION OVERVIEW:

DAVID Corporation is looking for a client-focused Business Analyst (BA) whose role is to be the primary liaison between the customer and our organization throughout the entire SDLC of their software implementation and to address on-going support needs. As the project manager, the BA is responsible for timely delivery within scope, schedule and budget for all implementations which typically run from 3 months to 6 months.   The BA will work with the customer to analyze their current and future business needs, recommend best practice solutions and define the detailed specifications for tailoring the software application to these solutions. As an integral member of the DAVID team, the BA will also perform system testing, preparation of user guides and training of the customer.   This is a diverse role in a fast-paced, forward-moving environment with daily opportunities to grow and expand your skill sets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct requirements interviews with customers both on-site and remotely.
  • Solicit the customer’s existing business processes and assist the customer in defining improved business solutions based on the application functionality.
  • Analyze customer business requirements and assess their necessity and feasibility based on business, technical and contractual constraints.
  • Prepare extensive detailed documentation of the business solution, rules and software requirements (functional and technical specifications) to meet the customer’s business needs.
  • Support the technical team during the development cycle.
  • Support QA in the creation of test plans and scripts.  Perform integration and application testing to ensure the documented requirements and business needs are met.
  • Develop customer user training materials and deliver end-user training on the application.
  • Manage project issues, risks and changes to complete the project on time and within scope and budget of the contract.
  • Detail requirements and perform testing on requested changes for existing customers.
  • Work with Support staff to replicate reported problems from existing customers and provide testing for fixes.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Focus on the customer’s best interest and needs.  Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with the customer.
  • Effectively negotiate with both the customer and internal team members.  Must be able to drive win-win solutions.
  • Understand the entire SDLC and have experienced all facets except development.
  • Solve problems analytically using both qualitative and quantitative information; strategically identify and address problems; examine issues from a cross functional perspective in the decision making process; operate in real-time scenarios and quickly identify logical loopholes and/or think through problems that may arise.
  • Improve business processes and drive creative and effective solutions to gain efficiencies for both the customer and DAVID’s internal processes.
  • Utilize basic project management concepts such as planning, scheduling, scope control, and risk management with both internal and client project teams.
  • Deliver presentations and training to groups of 10 or more in a formal environment.
  • Understand system testing methodologies.
  • Be self-motivated and proactive in creating personal direction and initiative in a less structured and fast-paced environment.
  • Grasp the insurance industry terminology and business processes of our customers in a short timeframe.
  • Multi-task to handle changing priorities and multiple customer projects concurrently.

DESIRED SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in risk management and insurance industry highly desired.
  • Travel required (20-30%)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ or higher degree with 2-4 years software Business Analyst experience.
  • Exceptional communication, organization & customer service skills.
  • Must be a creative problem solver and able to think and work quickly in a dynamic environment

This position is available in our San Francisco office.
